Spanish domain. The city became an important commercial and cultural center of the central Andes as it was on routes between Lima and Buenos Aires.
Machu Picchu is a pre-Columbian Inca site located 2,430 metres (8,000 ft) above sea level.
It is situated on a mountain ridge above the Urubamba Valley in Peru, which is 80 kilometres
(50 mi) northwest of Cuzco and through which the Urubamba River flows. Often referred to as
"The Lost City of the Incas", Machu Picchu is one of the most familiar symbols of the Inca Empire.

Details:
Day 01: Lima
Arrive to Lima's International Airport Jorge Chavez. Reception and transfer to hotel. Lodging.
Day 02: Lima – Cuzco
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport. Arrive to Cuzco, reception and transfer to hotel. On the afternoon, City Tour, visit to the 4 nearby ruins: Sacsayhuamán, Kenko, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay. Lodging.
Day 03: Cuzco – Sacred Valley – Cuzco
Breakfast. Excursion to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Visit to the Pisaq Craft Market. Buffet lunch. On the afternoon visit to Ollantaytambo Fortress. Return to hotel and lodging.
Day 04: Cuzco – Machu Picchu – Cuzco
Breakfast. Transfer to the station to take the train to Aguas Calientes. Arrive and boarding to the bus (30 minutes aprox) road to Machu Picchu. Will walk around its squares, temples and Royal Palacel. Will watch Intiwatana a sundial, the Three Window Temple and the cCircular Turret (estimated time 3 ½ hours). Buffet lunch in Aguas Calientes. On the afternoon, return to Cuzco and transfer to hotel. Lodging.
Day 05: Cuzco – Lima
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport to take the flight back to Lima.
