Rio de Janeiro (full name: São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro, approximate meaning in Castilian: San Sebastian del Rio, commonly known as Rio) is the state capital, the second largest city large and populous in Brazil. 
It is famous for its natural surroundings, renowned for its carnival celebrations, the samba and other music, for its beaches full of tourist hotels (such as Copacabana and Ipanema). Some points of interest apart from the beaches are the giant statue of Jesus known as Christ the Redeemer, located at the top of Corcovado Mountain; Sugarloaf Peak, with its cable car, the special venue, a great avenue used during the carnival and stage Maracana football, one of the largest in the world.
